Claude Developer Certification Prep
Get ready for the **Claude Certified Developer: Foundations (CCDV-F)** exam, Anthropic's official certification (administered by Pearson VUE, with a Credly badge) for developers who build applications and agents on Claude. This guide doesn't re-teach everything from scratch: it's a **preparation wrapper** that maps your existing knowledge to the exam's 8 domains, translates each topic into the language it's tested in, fills the gaps (above all the breadth of the 2026 Messages API), and drills you with weight-based practice banks and a full timed mock exam. > **Non-affiliation notice.** This guide is independent NIEVA material. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Anthropic, Pearson VUE, or Credly. "Claude" and the certification names are trademarks of their owners and are used here only to identify the exam. The official syllabus is not reproduced: check it at the official source we link. Every practice question is original, written for this guide; none comes from the real exam or from third-party banks. The exam (53 questions, 120 minutes, 720/1000 to pass, multiple choice + scenarios) is **heavily skewed toward API and SDK integration**: the *Applications & Integration* domain is a third of the total. So this guide invests by exam weight, not by content volume: the API module is the largest, while Claude Code and Eval (where you already have a lot of ground covered) get a recognition-level synthesis. It covers all 8 domains: Applications & Integration (Messages API, streaming, structured outputs, vision, prompt caching, batch, files), Model Selection & Optimization (Claude's current models and their pricing as of October 2026), Agents & Workflows, Prompt & Context Engineering, Tools & MCP, Security & Safety, Claude Code, and Eval/Testing/Debugging. Each domain opens by acknowledging what you already master from the NIEVA ecosystem and only adds what the exam demands. **The honest truth (included in module 1):** today the exam is **partner-only**: it requires the corporate email of an organization inside the Claude Partner Network; a personal email won't work. Membership is free (Registered tier), but you need to be affiliated with an organization on a recognized domain. This guide doesn't promise you the badge: it gets you **ready to sit it the day you have partner access**, and in the meantime it anchors you in **Anthropic Academy** (`academy.claude.com`), whose free courses grant a certificate of completion open to anyone. What you really take away is production-level command of Claude, not a badge.

Outcomes
What you'll be able to do
- Know the CCDV-F exam format and split your study by the reported weight of its eight domains.
- Master the current Messages API: streaming, structured outputs, vision and documents, prompt caching, the Batch API, the Files API, and token counting.
- Choose model, effort, and cost strategy with Claude's current models and prices.
- Design agents and workflows: the agentic loop, tool definition and selection, multi-agent orchestration, memory, and error handling.
- Apply production prompt and context engineering, and connect tools and MCP servers under the current spec.
- Recognize what the exam asks about security, Claude Code, and evaluation.
- Test yourself with original practice banks per domain and a full mock exam with an explained answer key.
Before you start
What you need to bring
It's for you if...
- Developers who build applications or agents on the Claude API and want to sit the CCDV-F.
- Anyone working at a Claude Partner Network organization who needs the credential for partner status.
- Anyone without partner access yet who wants the API command the exam measures.
Requirements and materials
- Intermediate Python or TypeScript and experience calling an LLM API; working through the NIEVA ecosystem's agents, prompting, context, and MCP guides helps.
- An Anthropic API key if you want to run the examples.
- To sit the real exam: a corporate email from a Claude Partner Network organization.
