We often think we have all the time in the world to find our true passion. Meanwhile, we accept temporary jobs, do what's necessary to get by, and say there will be time to pursue something bigger later. Without realizing it, the years pass by and the desire to do more grows, while the daily routine consumes us.
That was me, two years ago.
I worked in customer service, and although I deeply respect the importance of that job, I knew from the beginning that I could do more. I woke up every morning knowing there was something in me that I hadn't fully explored yet. Day after day, I answered more than 100 calls, and with each ring of the phone, I felt my future slipping through my fingers.
Until one day I decided to change everything.
I discovered the world of technology. I learned terms like HTML and CSS. My search history filled with questions like "How to learn programming?", and I spent hours watching YouTube videos where strangers assured me that I too could learn to code. And I never looked back.
What I didn't know was that this journey would take me to places I never imagined, and would open doors to conversations I never thought possible. More importantly, it awakened in me an insatiable hunger to become the best version of myself. Since then, every morning I turn on my computer, take a deep breath, and work knowing that, at the end of the day, I'll be one step closer to my dreams.
I could write a single post telling you all the challenges I've faced since I decided to embark on this journey: the difficult conversations with myself, the lessons learned... but I prefer to break them down little by little, deepening each one in future publications.
Today, my life has become a to-do list full of opportunities. Things I want to learn, goals I want to achieve. I've become obsessed with the idea of perfecting my skills. Nothing stops me. I feel invincible because I know there's nothing I can't learn. The version of me who worked hard for a company that didn't value my efforts would be proud of the person I am today: someone who wakes up every day to show up for herself, fulfilling with responsibility, consistency, and determination.
I quickly learned that in this field, you have to work harder than others. You must stay up late, get up early, and overcome obstacles. Most importantly, you have to do it for yourself. It doesn't matter if you study at a bootcamp, university, or are self-taught; what really makes the difference is the time you invest in learning on your own.
Only then will you know exactly where you belong.
I knew I didn't belong in my old jobs. I knew I could do more.
Two years ago, I made a decision that changed my life forever, and I'm just getting started. Today, I work every day for my passion, and this is just the beginning.
Since I started this path, I discovered the field that truly excites me. When I realized I could program, I knew I wanted to combine my love for education with the desire to help people like me, people who seek to do more, improve themselves, and move forward. That's how I discovered the world of EdTech, which gave me the opportunity to combine my passions and focus my career on making learning a little more fun and accessible every day.
I know I still have a lot to learn, but I've already built the necessary foundation to believe in myself. So that future Daisy can look back and feel proud of everything I've accomplished.
My Message:
There is a great opportunity in the world of educational technology to create content more focused on developers. Many experienced developers don't want to teach, and many educators don't want to learn to code. But this world moves fast, and we must move with it.
To the experts: Master your skill and give back to the world by contributing your time: mentor, tutor, teach, or create. There are countless ways to do it.
To educators: Technology is impossible to ignore, and if your passion is education, don't be afraid to learn programming or a branch of it. I guarantee that at first it will be overwhelming, but when you start to see the possibilities, you'll want to join the group of those who are always improving...
because in this world, skills have no limit.
